A Monday morning adventure

I tend to be early to things, which allows me to scope out the situation.  On school days, this also allows the kids and I to take a walk.  Walking is a great way to adjust little attitudes before they go to class, and in the neighborhood their school is in, you never know what you might see.

This morning's walk started with one grumpy 6 year old trailing ten feet behind, and a 10 year old looking to make trouble. A few minutes later, we'd found sugar on the oak leaves (next week, that stretch of sidewalk will be sticky), Scotch Broom flowers, some trailing rosemary in bloom, and discussed why spiders might like juniper bushes.  Their attitudes had changed from surly and mischievous to curious and eager in the span of time it took to walk about two blocks.

A little adventure can be good for us- physically, emotionally and spiritually, and adventures can be found everywhere.  I bless you with a sense of adventure in the coming days.  As the seasons change, so do our opportunities for experiencing and embracing it.  All we have to do is open our eyes and embrace a little bit of adventurous energy and those adventures will appear.
