What has happened in Boston today is terrible. There is no doubt about that, but it is important to remember to breathe, to love life, to acknowledge that even in the worst tragedies, there are people who will sacrifice themselves to save others. There are people who will turn around and go back into danger to help their fellow man. There are people who will cry for the victim, even though they have never met and live worlds apart. So, light a candle, say a prayer, send healing thoughts for the injured and frightened. Speed the dead on their way into whatever comes after this life. Reject anger and fear and darkness, so that those emotions don't spread. Offer what you can- blood, money, energy, sympathy- and prove that humankind is both human and kind.
