A trip to Smart & Final means there are large boxes of food in my house. Normally, most go to work with my husband, but as he left town Monday morning for training in Florida, they are being used by the kids for construction materials. Weirdly, this is a spiritual lesson in disguise.
My two sons love to build stuff, sometimes they use Lego's or wooden blocks, other times, it's pillows, cushions and boxes. Whatever is available is used to construct houses, garages, fire stations and other shelters. It's not a bad idea. Whatever we are given in life, whatever circumstance we find ourselves in, the materials for building a happy, spiritually fulfilling life are there. If our building is not stable, not sound, we can tear it down, reuse the pieces and make something new, something stronger.
Wherever you find yourself in life, gather up the useful ideas around you, the experience that teach you and make your stronger, and use them to create yourself and your reality. If at first you don't succeed, acknowledge the attempt and the lessons learned, and begin again.
