Celebrating life

Sometimes, it seems that life is nothing but a long string of crises and chores, big and small.  This wears us down, saps are energy and often leads to depression.  When things seem dark, it's time to light a candle.  Find something, anything, to celebrate.

If you are feeling down, look for some small victory to celebrate; it doesn't have to be grand or showy, but celebrating a little can help you to battle dark feelings.  Maybe you reached your exercise goal this week, or your child did well on a test.  A no-accident day while potty training can be a big deal, so be happy for it.  I've even celebrated getting all the laundry folded and put away (quite the feat at my house) by lighting some candles and having a drink with my husband.

Celebration encourages positive thinking and rewards hard work.  It gives us a stage to show our gratitude.  It gives us something to look forward to and something to look back on fondly.  Whatever you choose to celebrate and however you choose to do it, have fun and accept some lightheartedness into your life.
