Happy Summer Solstice!

Happy Summer Solstice! Today is the longest day of the year, and it has been, for many millennia a day of celebration all over the world. People, both ancient and modern have marked the occasion with feasting and festivity. Tomorrow, the daylight hours will begin to fade towards more even day and night.

Here are some simple celebration ideas:

• Wear red, yellow, orange or white- these are the colors of the sun

• Enjoy summer fruits- they have transformed sunlight into edible energy. Be grateful for these.

• Take a glass sunny white wine, a golden beer or a vibrant fruit drink outside at dusk. Soak in those last, rich rays of light and enjoy your libation.

• Dance, sing, and laugh.

• Enjoy time outside today in the warm sunshine. Smell the flowers, listen to the birds, and breathe in the energy of the day.

Celebrations of natural phenomena need not be expensive, ornate or even obvious. Simply enjoy your connection to the earth. Take in the energy around you and give back a little of your own.

May the warmth of summer fill your soul!

The summer night is like a perfection of thought. ~Wallace Stevens

In summer, the song sings itself. ~William Carlos Williams
